GARY S. RASKIN

Mr. Raskin is managing partner of the Firm.  He has practiced law for over 25 years. Mr. Raskin’s law practice focuses on complex structured financing and other corporate transactions, primarily relating to the entertainment industry. He represents companies and individuals, including financing companies, studios, well-established motion picture and television companies and prominent producers.  Mr. Raskin began his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Aurelio Munoz and the Honorable Loren Miller and he has significant litigation and trial experience in complex federal and state court cases on both coasts of the United States, primarily in matters concerning intellectual property rights and financing transactions. He served for over 15 years as a member of the Board of Editors for Los Angeles Lawyer, as an instructor for Boston University (Los Angeles campus) for entertainment finance classes, and as a guest lecturer and speaker on many different entertainment and intellectual property law subjects.  Mr. Raskin also has been selected in multiple years as a “Super Lawyer” in the field of entertainment by the publishers of Law and Politics.  Mr. Raskin received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and his Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he served as an editor of Santa Clara Law Review.

GARY J. GORHAM

Mr. Gorham is a partner in the Firm. He has 25 years of experience in civil litigation throughout the United States, representing businesses and individuals in complex civil matters including corporate disputes and derivative actions, entertainment, intellectual property, employment, contract law and business tort matters.  Mr. Gorham has extensive trial and arbitration experience and has delivered numerous notable results, including a defense verdict at arbitration in a $300 million lost profits claim relating to the Twilight film franchise, a multi-million dollar jury verdict in federal court on claims relating to sale of counterfeit goods, a verdict on fraud claims and an award of punitive damages against a partner in a corporate dissolution action, a jury verdict in a SLAPP-back action, a seven-figure arbitration award on behalf of a government contracts vendor, and a seven-figure arbitration award relating to a commercial real estate transaction.  Mr. Gorham received his Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law, magna cum laude. Mr. Gorham has been selected as a “Super Lawyer” in civil litigation from 2008 to 2020 by the publishers of Law and Politics

 

ERIC F. HARBERT

Mr. Harbert is a partner in the Firm. His practice focuses on complex structured financing and other transactions primarily in the entertainment industry. Mr. Harbert represents producers, financing companies, studios and well-established motion picture and television.  Mr. Harbert received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University in 1995, his Master of Fine Arts degree in motion picture producing from the University of Southern California in 1997 and his Juris Doctor degree from University of California at Los Angeles in 2005, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the UCLA Entertainment Law Review. Mr. Harbert began his career in motion picture production before becoming a lawyer and practicing law in private practice.

LUCY H. MEKHAEL

Ms. Mekhael is a partner in the Firm.  She has over 24 years of experience as a litigator and trial lawyer representing clients in state and federal courts, appellate courts and in arbitrations throughout the country. Ms. Mekhael’s practice emphasizes business and commercial litigation, real estate, employment and professional liability defense.  Her clients include individuals and business entities, investors, attorneys, law firms, and insurers.    Ms. Mekhael has obtained numerous notable results for her clients throughout her career, including defense verdicts and arbitration awards in multi-million dollar cases, prevailing party attorney’s fees awards in excess of six figures, and favorable judgments which she successfully defended on appeal. Ms. Mekhael received her Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles and her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School, where she served as editor of the International and Comparative Law Journal. Ms. Mekhael is a member of the Los Angeles Country Bar Association and Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. She has also served on the board of several nonprofit organizations where she provided pro bono legal advice and representation.

 

SCOTT J. TEPPER

Mr. Tepper is of counsel to the Firm. He has significant experience in real estate, business and entertainment litigation and alternate dispute resolution and has prosecuted a number of successful class and mass actions. Mr. Tepper has lectured at Loyola, USC, and UCLA Law Schools and for the Practicing Law Institute. In his 48 years of practice, Mr. Tepper has 24 published opinions. He currently is involved in several significant lawsuits involving Southern California Edison arising from the Woolsey wildfire in November 2018. Mr. Tepper received his Bachelor's degree with honors from the University of California at Los Angeles and received his Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.

MICHAEL T. ANDERSON

Mr. Anderson is of counsel to the Firm. His practice focuses on commercial litigation and other commercial disputes, primarily involving entertainment, real estate and other business matters. Mr. Anderson has represented clients in matters pending in various state and federal jurisdictions as well as in international matters. Mr. Anderson received his Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and his Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.

 

DUSTIN J. SLOAN

Mr. Sloan is a senior associate in the Firm. He handles transactional and litigation matters, with a focus on entertainment finance and transactions. Mr. Sloan’s litigation practice focuses on disputes concerning entertainment, intellectual property, real estate, corporate / partnership, contract and business tort matters. Mr. Sloan received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law.
